Hi all,
Here's an acoustic version of a song from Rain For Sound called 'Boy'. This version, along with the full band version, will be on the album when it's released. Hopefully that wont be too long away - perhaps a week or two, all going well! I'll post a full write-up of the album prior to it's release, giving you an insight to it's concept and some background on the recording.

Thanks for your continued support over 2011, lets make 2012 even better!
Have a very happy new year :)

Is this thing on...?

Okay, so it's been a while. But you'll be pleased to know i have some news for you all.

Firstly, i've completely given up with N1M.com, it never gave me anything but hassle, and as much as it was a help, time has come to let it fall away on it's own. But on music related news, i've been working on a new mini-album called 'Rain For Sound' which is a significant departure from the prog-rock/metal themes explored on Silence. Imagine the hybrid baby of Steven Wilson, Trent Reznor and Maynard James Keenen, raised in the Sahara. That just about sums it up. Release information soon.

On that note, the first (and probably last) single from the album, Setting Sail, should be out in the next few weeks. It hopefully will give you all of the kind of thing i've been exploring with Rain For Sound.

Also, you may know i've released a small album under the name 'Somnaire' - a new drone project of mine. So if you're into that sort of thing head on over to this page to listen and download. Free, as always!
More to follow, and soon!

Silence Update

Hi all,

The new album, 'Silence' is in it's very final mixing stages and so i hope to be able to get you a release date in the very near future. I can hapily say it's my best work and i can't wait to share it with you all. It is a concept album, except it's perhaps a bit more personal, lyrically, than Atrophy. It has 13 tracks and has a running time of just over 54 minutes. I will release the track listing in a few days...

This time around, i have adopted a (hopefully) unique method of releasing the material to you. In leau of Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' and Nine Inch Nail's 'The Slip', i hope to take my own plan here. The entire album will be available for download (in a format of your choice, including high-res FLAC for no extra cost), bundled with a DigiArtbook, which contains high-res photos of things which have inspired the music and vice versa. The photos are exlusive to the download package and will contain personal hand-drawn early lyric notes; taken straight from my lyric book, superimposed onto their related photos. The images greatly enhace the audio experience and i have to say, during the early premier, it created a very unique 54 minute experience that i am very proud to share with all of you. This package (album and DigiArtbook) will be available for only £1! I also plan on doing a limited physical release in the near future. We'll see how it all turns out!

Best wishes, and more info to follow shortly!

The Ride (EP)

Hi all!

It seems that with final exams looming, I won't be able to make any more music for at least a few months now. So for that reason I've decided to compile an EP with some songs that will appear on the next In Sequence album. The songs are of a far better quality than Atrophy as everything is recorded line-in now. On top of a better quality, it could be said that the EP is quite Industrial Rock sounding - which I think is quite an effective genre and is why I have chosen to tap into this - but also to break the eerie, calm and peaceful sounds created on Ambiance. And this will honestly explode!

I'm still not 100% complete, but I hope to have the EP out to you in a small amount of time. I'm not going to put any frames on that as, to be perfectly honest, I do not even know myself. I haven't even got the album artwork done - so that's another job for me to do, and due to my photoshop trial expiring I don't think it's going to be up to Ambiance's standard of artwork.

I still don't really know how I want to release this. My original idea was simply to do an EP for the album that will be released later this year - but an alternative idea is to release the entire album in sections. I'm afraid you'll have to wait and see how this all pans out in the coming weeks after I've made up my own mind.

Lastly, I want to thank you all for your continued support. It seems like I'm releasing new material ever 5 minutes at the moment. This is simply because it's early days for In Sequence and all these ideas that have been stuck in my head are finally becoming reality. I hope you bear with me while I release it all in voluminous amounts. That said, this should be the last you'll hear from me until at least the summer.

I'll keep you posted with release dates and other news as soon as they become clear to me,
Alex Mascart

Upcoming album art...

The next album, Ambiance, will be released in a few weeks! It is VERY different from Atrophy and Reality as it is incredably synth oriented. It's an instrumental album that is the product of putting just about anything i could into it's production. Here's the album art;

Album finished!

After many many hot weeks in and out of my bedroom studio, i'm pleased to announce my debut album, 'Atrophy' is finished! I only have a little more mastering to do tomorrow and I'd expect it will be out late tomorrow/early sunday. As stated in the 'About Me' section, 'Atrophy' is a concept album in which each song is from a different person's perspective - and the role they play in the 'Atrophy' of the human race (apart from 'Parisian Stars' - which was written for my girlfriend, but it plays a part in the united sense of the start of the album). It's not a depressing/emo album, but rather a common person's interpretation of the hope that still remains for us.

The album deliberately explores a large variety of genres and textures. Some is fast and upbeat, some is slow and mellow. There are instrumental tracks on the album - because I believe instrumental tracks are vitally important in concept albums as it draws the listener away from the usual dictated narrating they are used to with lyrics - and into unknown territory, where the story is formed in their own minds, with the base of the music.

The music was written over a period of several months to follow the story that I had written. I have thoroughly enjoyed working on this project and I'm looking foreward to sharing it with whoever wishes to hear it. You may mock me and laugh, or you may actually enjoy it. The bottom line is, listening to the album from start to finish is an experience. Maybe not an overly positive one (depending on your musical tastes - I have tried to cater for everyone!) If you enjoy the experience, then the way I work is that I accept donations via paypal. I don't ever expect to make money off of 'In Sequence', and I do wholeheartedly believe that music should be free, however the option is always there.

So thanks for visiting my page. I hope you enjoy the album (regardless of how primitive it is) and that you may gain something from it. If not, then it's still a freebie, right?

Thanks a million,
Alex Mascart
